This larger than life bronze figure of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was created in 2001-2002 It was commissioned through a contract created and provided by Erik's Figurative Art Studio with the City of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The sculpture was approved (but not directed) in each of four multi-month design stages with partial payments made at each approved stage.
The acrimonious and pettifog criticisms by angling politicians and then subsequent and secretive hacksaw removal of the work ordered by this narrow and censorious City say it all. As the saying goes,
"They are their own reply"
