During the Roosevelt Era, workers in Aurora IL were employed as Civil Projects Administration workers to dig a lake in Phillips Park.  While digging this lake they unearthed many intact mastodon skulls and bones that were an important and unique discovery.  This sculpture is in front of the mastodon visitors center at Phillips park which houses these bones and exhibits.

Dedicated and unveiled September 2005

Erik was happy to work with the City of Aurora and the Aurora Public Arts Commission to make this sculpture a reality.  Representatives from the city visited the studio several times during the process.
